Meh! I had a sandwich made up of 3 chicken tenders....not so great. My wife got the walleye and loved it! Ordered apple pie and sent it back as it was mushy from being served over 3+ days

The whitefish in the Seafarer sandwich is superb, the fries are great, and the cole slaw is nice and tangy. The remoulade sauce on the whitefish cakes was superb and the cakes were plenty big as a lunch serving. The KBC Amber was excellent as usual. The ambience is a cross between between nautical and north woods and is very comfortable. We come every year when we're in Copper Harbor.

Understand that dining in Copper Harbor isn't exactly like eating in New Orleans, Chicago or Santa Fe. There are basically five places to eat, and two are only by reservation. When my husband and I come to Da U. P., we look for good food, reasonably priced--not Wolfgang Puck. That said, my husband had the broiled whitefish with soup and I had an artisan turkey grilled cheese. The soup was good, and definitely homemade. The fish was decent and the grilled cheese had good turkey, was properly made (every bite had all the ingredients, so it wasn't like all the turkey was in one end and the cheese was in the other) and nicely toasted. The waiter was friendly and kept our water topped off. The music was low enough to talk over, and the lodge-y atmosphere was comfortably homey. It's a nice place to relax after a long day hiking, kayaking, fishing and generally wandering around. The menu has enough variety that you won't get bored eating here four times in a week.

We had a fantastic visit to Mariner North while in town for an overnight stay. I had heard good things about this restaurant and it didn't disappoint. Excellent food and the atmosphere had a great ambiance. I highly recommend a meal here and we will certainly return the next time we're in town!

The restaurant had one of the best fish frys and beer selections that we've experienced in the Keweenaw. This is normally a snowmobile destination for us but we went up for the first time this fall for mountain biking. Such a great trip and we will be back! Could have taken to left the hotel - bed was comfotable, and shower was acceptable but walls were thin and furniture and decor were both well used. No view of the water either and we upgraded to the honeymoon suite. Oh well! Still will return!

Nothing more than and average bar and grill. Some strange people working behind the bars, but good natured and friendly enough. It took a while (5-7 min) to be waited on initially, but again they were courteous. The food is nothing special, but palatable. There are a couple gems on the menu, but everything else is pretty normal. They do have a grilled cheese menu, which is unique. A bit overpriced for what you get. I probably won't return, but it's better than the tamarack.

Friendly place to go and dine. Lots of Options I had the baked whitefish and it was perfect. One I the best meals I had this week in the u p I thought the prices were reasonable, especially considering how far copper harbor is from a major town for supplies etc. I would highly recommend this place. Give it a try

Great place to eat. A little on the pricer side but understandable with its location. Food was pretty good and server was friendly. Liked the vegetarian options. Will recommend to others!

French onion soup was obviously from a can, not fresh made as the waitress claimed, the ribs we had ordered were lackluster-no flavor, fries were nasty, Save your money and eat elsewhere

The rooms, especially the jacuzzi tubs and the suites, are fabulous 4.3/5 but the food and service and the restaurant were sub par at best. The isle royale grilled cheese had what appeared to be slimey canned mushrooms filling it and I could hardly take a bite. My advice? Stay here, but eat somewhere else. Try eagle harbor.

$20 for a 12" "Mediterranean" pizza that was nothing but canned olives, tomatoes, and artichoke hearts drenched in mozzarella cheese. $8 for deep friend portobello mushroom fingers that came out within 30 seconds. They weren't fresh, and re-fried for 15 seconds to heat them up. I'm not sure how the staff can serve these dishes with a straight face. The only redeeming part of the meal was the strawberry rhubarb pie a la mode for dessert. Not a recommended stop.

Friendly service, great prices and some nice menu options. I wasn't sure what I would find for vegetarian entrees on the UP of Michigan but Mariner North has a nice variety. I was really torn between a few and ultimately decided on the double patty black bean burger. The wheat bun on this burger is top notch. It held together nicely even though it was holding a lot of burger. The black bean patties are homemade and taste great. I appreciate that they make them vs. thawing some food service veggie disc. The burger definitely filled me up and I enjoyed every bite (great flavors) It came with homemade salsa - a nice bonus. The burger cost around $8. I consider it a nice value considering how much delicious food I received. I saw a few pizzas go by our table. They looked really good. Might have to try one next time.

Like everything in Copper Harbor, over priced, over hyped, and not that good. I'm pretty sure most of the businesses here survive only because they are in proximity to the boat dock. I ordered the Lake Trout and my friend ordered the Whitefish and we exchanged half of our food. Got them grilled. They were decent but worth about $12 instead of $20. At $12 I'd give it 4 stars, at $20...maybe 2.5. Sides were unimpressive. This place serves crackers instead of bread...I know that in some places in the country that's the thing but I've never liked it and think of it as cheap. The cheese spread was decent, but very small. My other friend got the pizza, and while big, it wasn't that great either. All three of us got desserts and pretty much felt that they were overpriced and under made. My hot fudge brownie seemed like it came from a plastic wrapper out of a box from Walmart with a scoop of cheap ice cream on it. We had no cell service here on three different carriers so one of the reasons we chose this place was due to the fact they offer wifi...let me tell you, it is SLOW, like dial up modem slow. Don't plan on doing much more than email or any type of text work, took forever to upload 2 3mb photos!

too many patrons for the cook staff to keep up back room was smelly not a great place to eat, would not recommend it try the keweenah lodge instead waiter was nice though the woman with the diamond tattoo was not sorry, just not so great...

This is a nice place to eat in Copper Harbor. I went here twice, once for a drink at the bar, the other for lunch. With only 4 beers on tap, the choices are limited, but good choices. They had the blond and Amber local brew (I can't spell it so I won't try) (Keweenaw - I looked it up) a Smithwicks and LaBatt's Blue. If you don't like the taps, they have plenty of bottled beer. Also ask for it in a frosted schooner. Those looked good on a hot day. Lunch time - We had a very large group of 11 of us with small kids and they handled it very good. I ordered the nachos grande, because that's what I like. The nachos were grande. A plate piled high with chips, real cheese and plenty of toppings. The only thing I didn't like about and why I took off a star for, was that it came with beef and I like to have a choice of meat with my nachos. The kids fish and fries were good too. I'd recommend those as they were a large portion of food for a kid. Definitely enough to fill them up and then some. I was surprised when one of the little kids broke a glass on the floor that no one came running, but it was pretty loud in there and busy. Once they were made aware of it they cleaned it up pretty fast. We learned our lesson too not to put the 2 youngest together ;)

PHENOMENAL PIZZA. Borderline one of the best Pizzas I have ever had. Service was relatively slow, but understandable because we were there on a Tuesday night and it's the only restaurant open in Copper Harbor on a Tuesday. Waitress was perfect.

The Mariner is an institution. Known fondly by MTU grads who stopped in at the tip of the Keewenaw during a road trip or by those taking advantage of the mountain biking trails. Had soup and a sandwich with iced tea. Very good. Keep in mind that your literally at the end of the road and it's remote. Consider this. I found the prices fair and the quality good. Service was quick.

The Mariner has a very good variety of items on the menu. I favor fish especially when I'm in an area that has fresh available. The trout here was good but, not outstanding. It's a good choice if you're visiting in the area.

As someone on here said, I'd give it a negative star if I could. This was the only time in my life that I left a restaurant without ever getting my meal. After waiting for an hour, mind you. And we ordered chicken fingers, of all things. No hostess, ridiculously rude waiters, pandemonium all around. Absolutely the worst eatery I'd ever been to.

A surprisingly decent choice for dining in Copper Harbor. I mean, this is the north end of the country, folks. Go north from here, and you're under water until you hit Nanook land. The atmosphere is very touristry, but also reflects the "end of the country" syndrome, as if we're in Alaska... there's a "it's done this way, because that's all we got here" type style to it. Don't expect too much, and you'll be pleasantly surprised. if this place was in Grand Rapids or Traverse City... it'd be a bit lower rated. The food is good. The service is good. We started with a smoked whiteifsh pate, which was not bad, but smelled kind of like my cats would have an orgy in it. I had a whitefish sandwich that was relatively fresh with fries (frozen) and a very tasty baked potato soup. They know what they're doing up there with the food, ya know.

The food portions here are huge! We ate here last week while we were out sight seeing. The steak and spaghetti dinners were tasty. The steak was huge, almost the size of the dinner plate. It was well worth the price! The spaghetti sauce could have used a little more seasoning but the homemade garlic bread was delicious! Service was a little slow but it was very busy in there! The price isnt too bad considering it is tourist season.

Been here lots while winter sledding. Good soups and sandwiches.

Rating is relative - and as far as the Keweenaw Peninsula, Mariner North is about as good as it gets (thus the 5 stars). They have creative ingredients (cucumber wasabi dressing, for example, showing more originality than any other restaurant in town), a large menu, and fair prices. My sister, a California transplant, was thrilled to see a Schooner on the drinks menu, something she hasn't seen since Long Beach. Curious: what makes others label this place as too expensive? Everything up here is more expensive as it is carted in from farther away - Mariner North was completely reasonable, at least from Minneapolis standards. Every other place in town costs just as much for poorer quality. The kids menu at Mariner North was very well priced and largely portioned - always a good test of a restaurant's true colors.

The Mariner is an institution on the Copper Harbor dining scene, and I've been there many times over the years. Most recently, in August 2011, I was impressed with the Smoked Lake Trout Pizza (featuring sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, and alfredo sauce in addition to the eponymous ingredient) and the Great Lakes Chowder (a cream chowder, including local perch and whitefish on my visit). Both were delicious, though the pizza could've used a bit more spinach (and it was a bit salty, but it had a lot of smoked fish). There was a limited choice of beers on tap, but two were from the nearby Keweenaw Brewing Company. On previous visits I've also enjoyed their whitefish and walleye sandwiches. Definitely worth a stop if you're up for some very good gastro-pub food or even if you just want a burger or pizza and beer.

We stopped here afer hiking in the Estivant Pines on Friday. Little did we know that our options for finding dinner past 8 p.m. would be so limited in Copper Harbor. The sign at the door said "seat yourself" and there was barely an empty space in the restaurant. We found a table in a back room, and it took a long time for anyone to acknowledge us or bring menus. When we questioned a server walking by, we received a curt "someone will be with you". I guess you don't have to have great service when you're the only game in town on a Friday night. The reason they get three stars is that when we did get service, the beer was cold and came quickly. And the two paninis we ordered were delicious and reasonably priced. Went while waiting for a harbor tour; service was quite slow, but the food was good and reasonably-priced. And sans kitsch, which the area can be heavy in! I'd recommend it, but get your food to go if you're in a hurry.
